Iceland is created by extreme vulcanic activity on a hotspot that coincides with the mid-atlantic ridge. A place where the forces of nature are very evident. I’m not the only one who have noticed that considering the more than 2 million visitors every year. Quite a lot. But not as much as Venice though with it's between 26 and 30 million visitors. Mindblowing! Once in a while I join the crowds. So even though I prefer a metaperspective on globalization and especially the flipside of the coin, I'm also a part of the problem. My wanderlust isn’t a very sustainable desire to fulfill. Maybe I should use the traditional pictorialist landscape photographer cover up: “I want to share the beauty of the world to raise the awareness about what we might lose if we don’t care”. I’m being ironic.
